Robin
Director
Robin has just found out that he is too old to qualify as a generation X’er but is a millennial at heart anyway. A single ‘job-for-life’ type career was never in his plans. In his long and varied working life he has been a civil servant, builder, telesales operative, waiter, barman, stage manager, taxi driver, delivery man, journalist, MC, facilitator, singer, designer and unsurprisingly, because he’s had all these other jobs, actor.
He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and spent 20 fun-filled and treasured years working as an actor on TV, Radio and most widely in the theatre. He met his wife Caroline doing the Rocky Horror Show (pictures available on request) and continued doing his business work alongside his acting career until 2006 when he joined Purple Monster full time.
Purple Monster has allowed him to bring his creative flair to business and most importantly to people in business. The artistic side of his personality is fascinated by how people behave and why they do what they do and the communicator in him is always itching to share those opinions and insights to anyone who’ll listen. His wide selection of jobs have also given him great insight into what it’s like to really feel engaged at work.
Robin is devoted to his family. He is married to Caroline, a retired Education Manager and has two grown up children; Lily, a PhD scholar at Harvard University and a son, Barney who is following in the family footsteps in all things creative. He lists his influences as Connie, his westie, The West Wing, Cricket, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Hamilton, and the 1981 film comedy, Arthur from where he gets his life’s purpose…..’ Isn’t fun the best thing to have?’
